The Opportunity
As an Audit Senior, you'll take ownership of audit assignments from planning through to completion, working closely with managers and partners to deliver an outstanding service. You'll be trusted to lead engagements, support junior team members and contribute to the continuous improvement of audit processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead statutory audit assignments from planning through to completion, taking responsibility for delivering high-quality work on time.
- Supervise on-site audit teams and act as a mentor for junior colleagues, providing coaching, guidance and constructive feedback.
- Build strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted point of contact throughout the audit process.
- Utilise modern digital audit tools and technology to improve efficiency, accuracy and audit quality.
- Review work prepared by junior team members, ensuring compliance with professional standards and internal quality requirements.
- Work collaboratively with managers, senior managers and partners to deliver exceptional client service.
- Contribute ideas to improve audit methodologies, processes and team performance.
- Keep up to date with technical developments through ongoing professional development.
- Travel to client sites across the North East and Yorkshire when required.
About You
You'll be a qualified audit professional who enjoys building client relationships, leading engagements and supporting the development of others. You'll thrive in a collaborative environment and be motivated by delivering high-quality work while continuously developing your own skills.
You'll Ideally Have
- ACA or ACCA qualification.
- Strong experience leading or delivering statutory audits within an accountancy practice.
- Experience working with owner-managed businesses and SME clients.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Outstanding communication skills and confidence working directly with clients.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and audit software.
- The flexibility to travel to client sites as required.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of Sage, Xero or QuickBooks Online.
- Experience auditing charities, academies or legal sector clients.
- Familiarity with audit software such as Iris, Caseware or MyWorkPapers.
